When the introduction of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) increased the possibilities of where and how a pipe could be placed underground, it also opened up the possibilities to cross environmentally sensitive areas and to clean up areas of contaminated soil and/or groundwater.
AVERTEX has been involved in a number of projects that have done just that, installed pipe through environmentally sensitive areas or installed drainage pipe through or into contaminated areas so that the contaminants could be siphoned out. HDD allows various sizes and types of perforated/slotted drainage pipe to be installed in various methods under obstructions such as buildings, parking areas, tanks, or other infrastructure.
